About me
Film & TV Offline Editor / Johannesburg
Thanks for stopping by.
As you've probably noticed, I'm a South African Film & TV Editor. I have lived in South Africa all my life. I have worked in remote villages in the poorest districts of South Africa like Eastern Cape in the east and in the metropolis of Durban and Cape Town. I have a deep understanding of and, more importantly, sensitivity for the widely diverse cultures and people of South Africa. Having worked for national television channels and organizations, I offer insights with a global perspective to my stories. I have edited documentaries, reality tv shows, short films, music videos, drama and made-for-tv movies for national channels and companies including SABC, E.TV, Peu Communications Solutions, Plum Productions, New-Wave Productions, Blue Wizard and Sorele Media just to name a few. I can research the story, consult with directors and producers on a story angle and structure, prep the footage, offline and online edit the package. A lot, true. And a massive advantage when quick turnaround is vital. What's more having hands-on experience in all these areas in post-production also enables me to work better in a team collaboration. Home is in Limpopo, (Indermark) my african-style ancestral home built in 1903, but I choose to live in the city of gold in South Africa's smallest province - Johannesburg. Here I have set up my modern Independent post-production studio in my house. |
To live is the rarest thing in the world. With a broad range of skills under my belt, in 2018 I decided to go freelance, and I'm open for day edit work through to 12 months contracts as an Editor or Assistant. I'm equally happy working with a big room of clients as I am working from my own home studio set up. Whether the job is big or small, I hope I can offer a quick, efficient and versatile skill-set to finish the job to a high creative standard - above all, I always aim to 'wow' my clients!
If you are interested in hiring me, please contact me by email or call me on 078 821 5506. I can be hired with or without kit, and very happy to travel - be it on set or in your office - or I can work remotely from my home studio. I look forward to hearing from you! Cheers! |

WORK EXPERIENCE
Ø Peu Communications Solutions [February 2016 – Present]
I work as an Offline Editor for Skeem Saam, a youth daily drama series on SABC 1 on the Monday to Friday 18h30 slot. I work closely with the Directors, crafting the daily rushes into a coherent whole. To ensure that the story flows effortlessly from beginning to end, each shot is carefully chosen and edited into a series of scenes, which are in turn assembled to create the finished episodes.
I work closely with the Directors before shooting begins, deciding how to maximize the potential of the screenplays. I also check the technical standards, as well as the emerging sense of story, and the actors' performances.
Ø Sasani Studios [August 2014 – January 2016]
I worked as an Offline/Online Editor at Sasani Studios. I have edited an entire season of eKasi Stories Season 6 produced by various production companies for e.TV. My duties included:
· Gathering and Organizing required film elements.
· Assembling raw footage to create film sequences.
· Coordinate with producers and with directors to discuss the expected outcome of each film.
· Chopping previews and trailers for promoting the films.
I also ensured that this ‘made for TV movies’ meet the technical delivery broadcast safe specs for the broadcaster e.TV, ensuring proper video levels, aspect ratio, and blanking width. I packaged the movies, putting together different versions, since each movie has different requirements for the formatting.
Ø Blue Wizard Productions cc [January 2013 – August 2014]
I worked with Blue Wizard Productions cc as an Offline Editor. Whilst working there, I independently edited 2 seasons of iSpani; an SABC 1 career guidance doccie reality TV show aimed at educating the youth on career choices. I also independently edited a 13 episode series of Each One Teach One; an SABC 2 show for parents and teens facing social, health and developmental challenges in their family relationships and social environments.
Other projects that I have worked on at Blue Wizard Productions as an Editor include:
· NESTLE InFlight – Internal television channel for Nestle, broadcasting monthly company news, marketing, and promotion content.
· SASOL – HR/Training Videos
· DENEL AVIATION – Corporate Videos
· Department of Education: Curriculum Assessment Policy Statement Teacher’s Guide.
Ø Plum Productions cc [January 2012 – December 2012]
I worked at Plum Productions cc as a Junior Editor under the direct supervision of Richard H. Norsworthy.
During my employment, I have been tasked to help the Offline and Online Editors bring the motion pictures “online”. My duties involved digitizing and or ingesting footage to organizing footage in a way that conveys the intended message to target audience to mastering and archiving finished products to ensure that sufficient resources exist to allow for new projects to scheduling project timelines and compiling materials to creating training videos for corporate clients.
Some of the projects that I have worked on as a Junior Editor at Plum Productions include:
· Steve Hofmeyr’s Halloda DVD Launch
· Rocco de Villiers’ Beautiful Piano DVD Launch
. Conception Short Film & Therapeutic Horse-Riding Documentary
Ø New-Wave Productions cc [September 2010 – December 2011]
I worked at New-Wave Productions cc as an Intern Editor for Spirit Sundae, a Multi-faith infotainment magazine show for SABC.
Whilst working there, I assisted the post-production department by adding music, sound effects and dialogue to edited videos and films. I examined frames to mark all sound beginning and ending points. I ensured accuracy of all tape serial numbers and timecodes. I helped the editors by searching for music on the music libraries. I checked edited videos and films for mistakes and made corrections when needed. All these occurred under the direct supervision of the producer Shaffee Shaik, and post-production manager Edwin Nkosi.
